Joel has been in the securities and financial planning business since 1992.
“People always seem to be surprised when I say I’ve been in the business for almost 25 years,” says Joel. “I tell them it’s my love for this business that keeps me looking so young.”
Joel started his career as a stockbroker in Chicago, his hometown. He then served with Ameriprise Financial, as a financial planner, before moving to Texas and founding the Gilhang Financial Group.
“I became an advisor because it allows me to utilize my problem-solving skills as well as my fondness for math,” says Joel. “Being an independent advisor gives me freedom, options and choices. I like helping my clients achieve those same things. So I provide access to professionally managed portfolios and advisory services.”
Joel is an Investment Advisor Representative and a Registered Representative with MML Investors Services, LLC. He holds the FINRA Series 7 and Series 63 registrations through MML Investors Services, LLC.
Joel currently lives in Dallas, with his wife Alana and daughter Payton Grace.
Joel is an avid softball player and has participated in the Softball World Series for the past ten years.
“I have met lifelong friends and clients, because of my involvement in slow pitch softball leagues, says Joel". Also, I like to stay involved and active, so I’m a first-degree knight for the Knights of Columbus, and I do volunteer work in my community and for my parish, St. Thomas Aquinas.
Joel holds a B.S. in Business with an emphasis in Financial Planning from Purdue University, West Lafayette.
